RESOLVED: Ongoing Email Problems at Fasthosts

Resolved - We are pleased to let you all know that the issues with Fasthosts email from Friday were all resolved on Friday at 6.30pm.

Please accept our apologies for the outage which was out of our control. All we can do is pass on messages as their engineers fix issues and Fasthosts are pretty good at fixing these things which is why we use them.

From memory this is the only significant outage at Fasthosts in 3 or 4 years or more.

As many of you will know there have been ongoing issues with Fasthosts email today. Fasthosts are usually pretty good at fixing these things. They say:

"We are aware of a critical issue affecting email services. Some customers may be unable to send outbound email via our SMTP servers, with messages remaining in the Outbox and failing to send. In addition, customers may also experience delays or issues receiving incoming emails. This is a top priority for our engineering team.

"Due to a technical disruption, some customers may experience intermittent errors in Webmail. We understand the importance of our Webmail services and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

"Potential Causes: All SMTP relay servers are offline; the authentication service for SMTP has failed; a core network device for outbound traffic is down."
